SOCIAL NIGHT (Pt. 1)

I began to see Senior Douglas around again.
But this time... strange things were happening.
Senior Douglas was avoiding me.
When I passed him by the corridor, he avoided my eyes.
When his battalions tried to look for my trouble, he stopped them.
And this made me more scared for my life.
What was he plotting next? To shoot me?
Once, a JSS1 boy gave me a super glue.
“From Commando.” He said and ran away.
I looked at him in confusion, then the boy ran back. “For your teeth.”
He ran away again.
I scoffed at the stupidity of it. Instead of Senior Douglas to apologize, he was moving strange.
The next time Senior Douglas and I passed each other through the corridor, neither of us avoided each other. Instead, I caught him staring at me.
I stared back at him, our eyes lingering for a moment before he looked away.
My stomach twisted and my chest tightened at the encounter. Was it fear? Was it anxiety? Maybe I was... sick.
He terrified me in ways that did not seem humanly reasonable.
I wanted to avoid him. But I also found myself looking for him.
And I wondered if he looked for me too.
It was another Social Night and I half expected to run into him at the old French classroom, but it was empty. My hands trailed the desk he sat on the last time, feeling the coldness of the hard steel like I was touching a piece of him.
I sat on it and continued reading my E.L James novel.
After an hour, I left for the toilet. I soon returned to the classroom... only for me to see him there. Resting over the desk with my opened novel in his hands.
My stomach dropped.
“‘He grabs my hips with both his hands and runs his tongue around my navel...” Senior Douglas read aloud in a slow, deep voice. “‘then gently nips his way to my hipbone, then across my belly to my other hipbone’.”
I dashed to grab the book from him, but he lifted it up.
“Seeing him on his knees in front of me,’” He continued reading, bringing the book down to my front. “’feeling his mouth on me, it’s so unexpected, and... hot’.”
He looked at me.
Embarrassed, I grabbed the book from him.
“Fifty Shades of Grey.” He looked at the cover. “You know you can just watch the movie in two hours instead of spending weeks reading one book?”
“Its not the same experience.” I explained, putting the book into my bag.
He rose a brow. “How so?”
“With the book... its slower. Takes you through the whole experience without making you feel... uncomfortable.”
I moved to walk past him. He stepped into my path, blocking me.
“Do I make you feel uncomfortable?”
I was caught off guard by his question. But I just swallowed it in and said,
“You make everyone feel uncomfortable.”
He bit the smile behind his lips and stepped closer, making me shudder.
“Do you want me to stop...” His voice dropped to a whisper. “... making you feel uncomfortable?”
I stared back at him, suddenly forgetting how to breathe properly.
“I don’t understand.”
He smiled and stretched out his hand to my hair, tucking a loose strand of my Babyface braids behind my ears, his hand lingering longer than expected, making me shudder harder.
“Someday, you’ll understand,” He leaned close to my ear and whispered. “olodo.”
Our faces were close this time, the closeness of his breath making my skin rise. I didn’t know if any of this was real, if I was dreaming, or fantasizing that THE Senior Douglas was right here, standing close, teasing me.
I shifted back but ended up hitting the table behind me. He pulled the table closer to him, pulling me with it till my chest hit his, making me more tensed.
“Tell me what to do to make you less...” his eyes lowered to my neck. “uncomfortable.”
“Leave me alone.” I said in a rush.
His eyes rose back to mine. “And what if I don’t?”
I tried to steady my breathing. “Why don’t you want to?”
“Because my tongue and knees call for you.”
